Bio
(My formatting techniques suck; you'll have to settle for mere paragraphs until I bother to learn HTML.)

I'm a writer with six books out (as of March 2006). I'm a voice actor of over 60 characters in Japanese anime, and have been in radio commercials heard in a dozen major cities in the United States. I've written and directed dubbing scripts for Japanese anime, and I've also written and directed radio drama scripts, some produced on KDVS campus radio in Davis, Calfiornia. I've performed on stage in a variety of productions, including improvisational theater, and was the male member (if you'll pardon the expression) of a comedy trio called "Two-and-a-Half Funny Women." I relocated to Mason, Ohio (northeastern Cincinnati) in January 2008, and I'm building an improvisation theater here.

I live in the United States, and I am thoroughly ashamed of my government's behavior; please do not judge me by that cretin in the White House. For those of you in other countries, please be kind to me if I need to emigrate as quickly as possible, before Homeland Security begins goose-stepping down my street.

I sing and play piano; I love art, although I can barely draw a straight line; I am a collector of books, movies, and music. I enjoy walking, cool weather, mountains, forests, and water, which tells me that I should probably be in Canada. (grin) I think I'd make a good addition to the population, so if anyone wishes to sponsor me, I just might be interested (this country is seems to be in a rapidly-descending handbasket).

I'm a big and tall man with long hair; I have some photos at my (rarely updated) website. I am Cheyenne Indian, although I look non-Indian (my tribal clan nicknamed me "Colored Wrong"). In the spring of 2006, my clan decided that I would henceforth be known as "Tristan Black Bear"; I am honored to be so loved by my clan that they have taken me beyond my Beginning Name.

I love to laugh, to love, and I am incredibly tactile. Anyone who hangs around me for more than a few minutes is quite likely to find her/himself hugged. If I go too long without touch, I become physically ill. It is as if I am slowly being disbelieved into non-existence. I call forth Rainer Maria Rilke's poem, a segment of a longer work called The Seven Phallic Poems: "This is the creature that has never been. It never existed, and yet nonetheless, because they loved it, it behaved as though it did." (Translations vary; I'm borrowing from one read by Ron Perlman for the Beauty and the Beast television series.)

I am like that. Sometimes, I do not exist until I'm believed in. At other times, I believe so much that I recreate all the world from the sheer power of Love.

To sum up my life purpose in only a few words: Passionate Creation, Passionate Connection. I am much too intense for most people. I am gay and—if I'm right, and I so very much hope that I am—I've recognized (in the Elfquest sense of the word) my Lifemate. His name is Jybian; he is a young winged white tiger anthromorph mage, although he usually shows himself to most people as merely human. (Look closer; you'll see him.) We met in March 2004, and despite rocky times, we're still together. I seek also friends, like-minded mates and (as is natural for an actor) an audience. I hope you'll come read my journal, and if you wish to know me, please use my email address. I'll answer as quickly as I can.
